Chan Centre for the Performing Arts
The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts provides versatile and elegant meeting and conference facilities. It is quickly earning a glowing international reputation as a spectacular venue for local and visiting art groups and conference organizers. This multi-faceted facility is well-suited for a variety of events - the Concert Hall will seat 1200 people, and the adjoining studio and cinema theatres provide additional seating for breakouts or simultaneous broadcasting.
Museum of Anthropology
Located on the cliffs of Point Grey, the Museum of Anthropology houses one of the world's finest displays of Northwest Coast First Nations art in a spectacular building overlooking the Strait of Georgia and North Shore Mountains. Whether it's a Salmon BBQ on the magnificent grounds of the Museum for 1000 people, or a cocktail reception in the Museum's lobby for groups up to 100 people, this will truly be an experience your delegates will never forget.
War Memorial Gym
This is our largest facility available for meeting or conference events and accommodates up to 3300 delegates for plenary sessions. It is also ideal for exhibit displays, poster sessions, and of course athletic events.
Student Recreation Centre
This facility offers over 18,000 square feet of flat space, ideal for trade shows, banquets, meetings or athletic events, and can be broken down into three multi-purpose sections. Conveniently located across the street from The Gage Towers. The facility also houses an 8,000 sq. ft. fitness facility called The Bird Coop and a 2,300 sq.ft. multi-purpose studio.
First Nations Longhouse
Sty-Wet-Tan, the Great Hall in the First Nations Longhouse, is a dramatic, 3,000 square foot, multi-purpose hall. Among its architectural features are four houseposts and two supporting roof beams carved by noted Northwest Coast artists. This marvelous hall is suitable for meetings, cultural events and catered luncheons for groups of up to 300.
Cecil Green Park House
Constructed in 1912, Cecil Green Park House was one of the first fashionable homes in Vancouver's prestigious Point Grey neighbourhood. These elegant meeting rooms all have ocean views, and lead out to an expansive verandah and meticulously manicured gardens. This setting is perfect for receptions for up to 200 guests.
University Centre
Situated at the cultural heart of the campus, the Centre houses both the Sage Bistro and Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies, overlooking the mountains and the ocean. The Sage Bistro with its gleaming wood parquet floors, and floor to ceiling windows, can cater events up to 350 people. All the features of the menu are made on premise daily by their chefs. The Peter Wall Institute occupies the top floor of the Centre, and offers beautiful meeting space for up to 120 people theatre style, opening onto a large terrace.
Student Union Building
Also known as the SUB, the Student Union Building is the hub of campus activity. It houses an auditorium that seats 400, a large ballroom that can accommodate over 400 people banquet style, a 30-seat UN style council chamber, and several multi-purpose meeting rooms. As well as being conveniently located across from The Gage Towers, the SUB offers a cafeteria, restaurants, a pub, gift shop, post office and banking facilities.
The Liu Centre
The Centre for the Study of Global Issues is located in the heart of UBC's Point Grey Campus. Surrounded by lush forestland and steps away from the beach and ocean, the Centre itself is housed in an award-winning building designed by Architectura in association with famed architect Arthur Eriksson.
Thea Koerner House
Built in 1960 on the northeastern edge of the UBC campus surrounded by landscaped mature gardens overlooking the mountains and the ocean. Thea Koerner House has three meeting rooms that can accommodate banquets and meetings of 280 people to more intimate receptions and boardroom meetings of 10. The roomshave a 'West Coast' feel, and some offer floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, wrap around balconies and 1960's charm. It is also home to Koerner's Pub, an open-air patio with the best selection of microbrews on campus.
